Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination Fertility Treatment (IUI)

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) Treatment At Fusion Nest Fertility Centre

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a Fertility treatment that involves placing the sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization.

The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reaches the fallopian tube and subsequently increase the chances of fertilization.

IUI provides the sperm an advantage by giving it a head start, but still requires a sperm to reach and fertilize the egg on its own. It is a less invasive and less expensive option compared to IVF.

IUI Treatment Process/Procedure

First you undergo an assessment screening. This assessment screening normally covers the following

  • AMH
  • SFA
  • Infection Screening and HSG

After your assessment screening, then the following

  • We wait for you to start your cycle
  • Then you start taking your drugs on the second day of your cycle.
  • Start your injection on the 5th day of your cycle
  • Then your folliculometry
  • Once all the follicles are matured, then you will get a trigger injection
  • first insemination is done 24hrs/36hrs after trigger injection
  • There could be a second insemination if the couples so desire.

When can IUI Procedure be use to treat Infertility issues

  • When the woman has patent Fallopian tubes.
  • The woman has ovulation either by herself or through medication.
  • And man semen(both motility and morphology) are very good.
  • if the cause of infertility is unexplained.

    • Fusion Nest Fertility Centre on May 27, 2016 at 8:36 am

Good morning Murffy , we would like to know the latest SFA your husband did to qualify him for IUI.for IUI the sperm count has to be from 20million and above with 40% and above activeness. if its not up to that, IVF would be the best option for you both.please check your email for the cost.

Please, will like to have an idea of your prices for iui and ivf cos I only have hyprerprolactinaemia though on teeatment and every other thing is fine while hubby has issues with his count, thanks.

    • Fusion Nest Fertility Centre on May 27, 2016 at 8:31 am

Good morning ma, hyperprolactinaemia is a treatable condition but would like to ask how your FSH and LH level are. have you done an HSG test before? because before considering IUI, HSG has to be done that shows you have a patent bilateral tubes. we would also like to know the latest SFA your husband did to qualify you for IUI. but in the case of IVF, high prolactin doesn’t matter, you don’t need to do HSG, and your husband sperm count is not really a problem except no active cells were found in the semen.

please check your email for the cost of IUI and IVF.

I would like to know what my options are and the relative cost… had a girl in 2008 and was diagnosed with uterine synchiae afterwards… been unable to concieve… a subsequent d&c was done and iud inserted and removed 4months later… does this mean that my tubes are blocked? I am 41years old.

    • Fusion Nest Fertility Centre on June 20, 2016 at 12:12 pm

Considering your age ma,the best option for you is IVF and only an HSG test can determine if your tubes are patent. So have you had an HSG recently? if yes what did it say? Cheers

Dear Christiana i suppose you must have seen our reply to your mail box long ago and have carried out the advice contained therein. if you have any further questions, please feel free and ask.

good morning, husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a over a year now, I’m 41 and have stopped having period for 2years (it stopped suddenly) tried clomid treatment about a year ago, I was so sure I ovulated but no pregnancy, just tried another clomid cycle of 100mg, not sure I ovulated. can iui help? and what is the cost.

    • Fusion Nest Fertility Centre on August 2, 2016 at 6:18 am

Dear Adeoke how are you doing hope great? sorry ma IUI can not work reason been that you have stopped seeing your period for a while and since the clomid didnt work out as well, at this stage IVF is the only option that can work out for you. Can we know how long you have being married? has your husband done an SFA test before now and what is it like? and have you done an HSG before to check your fallopian tubes if the tubes are patent? you don’t need to answer those questions directly here, you can just send us an email to either or will be waiting to attend to you..Cheers
